About Palitana Temples
The Palitana temples are hundreds of Jain temples and shrines on Shatrunjaya hill at Palitana, about 50 km from Bhavnagar. Jains count the hill among their holiest pilgrimage sites; the main temple honours Adinath (Rishabhanatha), the first tirthankara. Mostly of marble, the temples were built and restored over about 900 years, starting in the 11th century.
