About Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary
Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary is a wetland near Jamnagar, on the southern shore of the Gulf of Kutch. A check dam built on the Ruparel River before Independence holds fresh water on one side and sea water on the other. Flamingos, pelicans, spoonbills and herons are seen in its lakes, mudflats and mangroves, and in 2022 it was named a Ramsar wetland of international importance.
